The whole shebang.
Leoness has changed dramatically since its inception in 2003 — today they service 22 acres on site and purchase another 550 acres of vines in the Temecula Valley. Their gift shop is well stocked with great gifts and personal must have items. Recently they underwent an extensive remodel. They added an outdoor members only lounge with personal service and revamped their restaurant. The restaurant has been voted the #1 winery restaurant by USA today, four years in a row.
The grounds are exquisite, the service is exemplary, and the wines are extensive.
Things I learned at this winery:
There is a champagne produced in New Zealand fermented in cement, then dropped into the ocean for pressurization.
Some vineyards are picked using trucks with arms ala “Transformers” then hand picked afterward.
If vines are trellised horizontally, they do so to take advantage of the sun and breeze. Vertical trellising is the same as free form.
