Briar Rose Winery is everything Disney plus wine. Briar Rose was the name given to Aurora in Sleeping Beauty when the fairies, took her away to save her life. Imagineer Beldon Fields, right hand man to Walt Disney in the day, owns Briar Rose. Many of the architectural features woven into the buildings are authentic pieces from Disneyland, Disney movies, or rides. The Tempranillo bottle label features a rose, as a nod to Beauty and the Beast.

Briar Rose has a tasting room, but also offers a unique and exceptionally pleasant “sit-down-outside and I’ll-serve-you-experience.” We chose the red tasting outside — entertaining and engaging. 

Things I learned at this winery:

Super Tuscan is a blend of 2 Bordeauxs and 1 Italian grape. Super T is a blend of 1 Bordeaux and 1 Italian grape.

Port is short for Portugal. Port was developed by accident.  The Queen of Spain was sending wine to the Americas by boat. The wine in barrels on the bottom of the boat fared well, but the wine in barrels on top of the boat did not. They had the idea to fortify the wine with brandy. As a result, port was invented. 90% of port is created with Zinfandel grapes.
